GAIA REPOSSI'S FOLLOWED IN HER FAMILY'S FOOTSTEPS. BUT SHE MADE THEIR MAISON HER OWN.

By Morgan Becker

Jewelry-making is in Gaia Repossi’s blood. But the only child of Alberto Repossi—who succeeded his father, Constantino, at the helm of the family’s eponymous maison in 1974—originally set out as a painter. Throughout her studies, Gaia took a liking to contemporary art, to architecture, to anthropology, to archaeology. She developed a knack for iterating upon classic forms, bringing disparate references and motifs together in a high-low blend that would revolutionize what she once saw to be an old-school industry. At only 21, Gaia took the reins at Repossi, bridging its rich history with a contemporary vision of what jewelry can be.

Beyond Noise caught up with the trailblazing designer, 17 years into her tenure. From her summer outpost at Château Marmont, she details what draws her to minimalism, what moves her about LA, and what it is to be Repossi’s first female designer.
